Lithuanian LIFE IP project commences

First Lithuanian LIFE Integrated Project “Optimizing the management of Natura 2000 network in Lithuania” (LIFE-IP PAF-NATURALIT) started on the 1st of January 2018.

The project aims to implement the Prioritised Action Framework (PAF) for the Natura 2000 network management. The duration of the project is 10 years with the budget of 17.000.044 Eur.

The coordinating beneficiary is Environmental Projects Management Agency under Ministry of Environment of Republic of Lithuania (EPMA). The project will also include various associated beneficiaries: Ministry of Environment of Republic of Lithuania, State Service for Protected Areas under the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania, Aukštaitija National Park and Labanoras Regional Park Administration, Dzūkija National Park and Čepkeliai Strict Nature Reserve Administration, Žemaitija National Park Administration, Baltic Environmental Forum Lithuania, Aleksandras Stulginskis University (Faculty of Forest Science and Ecology, Institute of Forest Biology and Silviculture), Varėna State Forest Enterprise, Druskininkai State Forest Enterprise.

IP will be focused on following specific objectives:

(1) setting specific measurable, attainable, realistic, timely conservation objectives for Natura 2000 network at national and local levels, in line with defined favorable reference values of natural habitats and species of Community interests;

(2) improving efficiency of management, surveillance and analysis processes towards achieving and maintaining favourable conservation status of protected species and habitats;

(3) assurance of the integration and implementation of the nature conservation measures into other sectors, especially agriculture, forestry and tourism;

(4) capacity building of the institutions responsible for the implementation of Prioritised Action Framework (PAF) for the Natura 2000 network management.

LIFE programme – for the uptake of results of Horizon 2020 projects

On the 14th of December Research Council of Lithuania (LMT) and Lithuanian RDI Liaison Office (LINO) invited science, business, public sector representatives to the information event. The lecturers introduced new Horizon 2020 Societal Challenge 5 'Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials' (SC5) work programmes and their calls for applications.

Seminar-discussion „LIFE naujovės 2018–2020“ on the 11th of December

On the 11th of December Lithuanian LIFE capacity building project invites LIFE community to the seminar-discussion „LIFE naujovės 2018–2020“, where the LIFE programme novelties for 2018 will be presented. The event will take place at the BEST WESTERN Vilnius hotel (Konstitucijos pr. 14, Vilnius). The expert from Sweden Henrik Toremark will talk about the challenge of writing a 10 pages LIFE Concept note. We will discuss what is necessary for 2018-2020 LIFE proposals and mark the successful 2017 for the numerous Lithuanian LIFE proposals! Registration info@lifeprojektai.lt

The presentation of EU support opportunities for business at Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists

On the 28th of November the consultative meeting at the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists took place, where the representatives from the EU support agencies presented the existing and planned Calls of EU support for business. LIFE programme has been presented by the ‘Building LIFE capacities in Lithuania’ project manager A. Šmitienė, who informed about the funding opportunities to businesses. V. Krutulytė from European Social Fund Agency presented the fund‘s support to businesses and organizations, while A. Pautienius from Lithuanian Business Support Agency (LBSA) talked about the LBSA support and co-financing funds.
